What is AWAcadabra?

On July 2nd 2016 B1Community Foundation will organize a another Beach Coney Island for Kids on eagle beach we call ‘AWAcadabra’ (‘AWA’ being the Papiamento word for ‘water’). AWAcadabra is a unique ‘coney island’ experience for kids. Think of waterslides, dino jumps, bumper boats, trampolines, carousels and much more. Every attraction is paired with a local non-government organization (NGO). B1Community organizes the event and provides the attractions. Organizations used them free of charge to raise funds. 100% of funds collected by the attractions go the participating NGO’s. In essence, AWAcadabra is a fundraising social attraction park, raising awareness in youngsters by connecting Kids + Fun + Community.

#Throwback to AWAcadabra in 2015

Last year (2015), we organized AWAcadabra for the first time and it was a phenomenal success. We had a very sizable turn-out. NGO’s were happy, vendors were happy, sponsor were happy and above all – kids had a great time. We had amazing sponsor and excellent collaboration between public – and private sector. We hope you will join us again this year. Here as some pictures of last year.

About B1Community Foundation

B1Community Foundation is an indepent non-profit organization based in Aruba. The primary goal of B1Community is to stimulate social responsibility and civic participation among young kids. B1Community plans to do this by organizing fundraising events that raise awareness and initiate projects that facilitate collaboration between non-government organization (NGO’s) and the general community.

2016 is a big year for B1Community. We have multiple projects planned for this year. In terms of special events, we are organizing AWAcadabra in the spring and then a ‘minute-film’ festival in October – where groups of young kids are tasked with making a minute-long film, which we want to show in local cinemas during the commercial/ trailers before the start of scheduled movies. Audience members in the cinema and the general public on social media vote for the best minute-film.

In terms of complex projects, we are currently developing  a mobile gaming platform called “Ban Haci Algo.com” (Papiamento for “Let’s Do Something”). This is a gaming platform + mobile app aimed at kids in middle school. The app lists a series of Challenges that kids can perform in order to earn points. These Challenges range from ‘random acts of kindness’ challenges, to NGO-sponsored challenges, to anything we think is cool and will get kids involved in their communities. Kids complete the challenges, provide proof and earn points.

Come to ‘AWAcadabra’ on July 2nd, 2016. If you’re a NGO, please don’t hesitate to Sign up. Help us provide a unique experience for kids on the island and raise awareness for good causes. It’s gonna be awesome.
